Jacki Rogoff, Executive Director of Labor & Industry For Education, Inc.

Major responsibilities include all administrative oversight and quality assurance. Directly responsible for oversight of all employees at the Long Island location as well as the Brooklyn, NY Earlylearn division. Directly responsible for all agency contracts and grants with governmental authorities. Trains staff as well as partner organizations. During her time at LIFE, the program has grown nearly 10 times.

Administrative oversight and quality assurance of LIFE’s mortgage foreclosure prevention program in volunteer capacity. Responsible for both staff training as well as outreach to all facets of the community. Direct liaison on behalf of the agency with other homeowner counseling groups. Previously served as a counselor and directly works with homeowners to help keep them in their homes as well as attending mandatory Settlement Conferences in both Queens and Nassau Counties.

Ms. Rogoff was also Nassau County Assessment Review Commission Commissioner for almost a decade. In this role, she was responsible for review and finalization of tax determinations for commercial and residential tax review applications in Nassau County.

Ms. Rogoff is a member of the NYS BAR, Nassau County BAR Association, Neighborworks of America certified counselor, Long Island Chapter of the New York State Coalition for Excellence in Homeownership Education, certified as a Medicaid Service Coordinator supervisor in New York State, certified as a self-determination broker in New York State (OMRDD), certified in sexual abuse and crime investigations from New York State OMRDD.

Eliezer Hecht, General Counsel and Administrative Director of Labor & Industry For Education, Inc.

Eliezer Hecht attended and graduated from Columbia University School of Law.  From 1999 through September, 2008, Mr. Hecht worked at large law firms in New York City (as a real estate attorney), including Pryor Cashman, LLP and Herrick Feinstein, LLP.  During this period of time, Mr. Hecht was responsible for overseeing teams of attorneys for various different projects.

In September of 2008, Mr. Hecht joined Labor & Industry For Education, Inc. (“LIFE”) as General Counsel and has since expanded his role in the organization to include Director of programming oversight and development.  He is also in charge of all agency collaborative programs.  During his time at LIFE, the program has quadrupled in size.  Mr. Hecht is in charge of all contract and legal aspects of the program (except for compliance).  He is in charge of financial oversight.

In December 2008, Mr. Hecht co-founded New York Mortgage Advocates and is the Executive Director of the program. This program, funded by a large grant from the New York State DHCR, provides free mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling to borrowers in trouble with their home mortgages.  In four years, the program has given valuable assistance to over 1150 consumers in need of help.

Amanda Blum, CPA, Fiscal Director

Amanda Blum holds a BS in Accounting from Yeshiva University, Sy Syms School of Business and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in New York.  She spent five years in public accounting most recently at KPMG working in the audit department.  She has led teams performing audits and quarterly reviews for both Fortune 500 public companies as well as privately held enterprises primarily in the real estate and construction, investment management, apparel, and diamond industries.

Amanda is currently the Fiscal Director at LIFE.  She oversees LIFE’s fiscal department for all aspects of the organization.  She is responsible for staff management, setting and improving policies, processes and efficiencies, budgeting, reporting for governmental authorities, audits, and preparing financial statements.  Amanda is responsible to ensure that LIFE’s fiscal policies and procedures are implemented and followed for maximum compliance with all governmental authorities and best practices, while continuing to be as streamlined as possible.
